Does Trump Understand Christianity?

This is an amazing declaration. It is profound and in many ways reveals so much about this man. First, The ambiguous platitudes that he uses to describe his relationship as a devout Presbyterian are quite telling. He says "people are shocked when they find out I'm a Presbyterian". Why? Why are people so shocked by this Donald? Is there something in your life style that would cause others to question your deep seated Christian devotion? After all "By their fruits ye shall know them" does comes to mind.
When asked "have you ever asked for forgiveness" his immediate reaction speaks volumes. He seems baffled by the concept and immediately goes into a drawn out explanation meant to deflect any doubt as to his Christianity. This is done by explaining his relationship with a specific pastor, as if coming up with an alibi. Mr. Trump, there are many who doubt your Christian devotion can you tell me where you were on the morning of  Sunday January17th? Yes he replies, I was with Reverend Dr. Peale, did you know he wrote a popular book? It's such an odd reaction for a "truly devout Christian." What I want to focus the most on is his answer which he only gives when pressed. He says "No, I don't think I do, if I do something wrong I try to fix it, I don't bring God into that picture." This is an individual so perplexed by one of the fundamental and foundational principles of Christian faith-Repentance. He is clearly baffled with the concept of the atonement of Jesus Christ. For a man to say he has never been in need of forgiveness draws to question two serious possibilities. First, he is completely unfamiliar with the basic concepts of man's relationship with God and the atonement. Thus, it's impossible to accept his deep deep devotion to a life of Christian faith. The second explanation is he is so narcissistic that he actually believes he has never made a mistake, therefore has never needed to repent, this fact would place him in the company of only one other man in the history of this planet-Jesus Christ.
If you are on the fence about this man I urge you to really search your soul and decide is this an important issue to you. Should the next President of our country possess a basic understanding of the most fundamental and essential tenant of Christian faith- the principle of repentance and forgiveness thru our Savior.
